Shinma Movie Review
Some films are unique because of their ability to offer entertainment with a social message. It is not easy to combine both while presenting the films story. But Shinma produced by Aanil Joshi and directed by Milind Kavade, has managed it to a certain extent.
In this film, there is a story of the making of a film. A reputed award-winning director K.Vasu, opts for a typical commercial film to raise money for the operation of his seriously injured wife. He receives all the help from the production manager Pankaj Satghare, who introduces him to a producer Saccha Ganda. To make the producer happy, they move to a village called Dhoolpati in Marathwada, to shoot a Marathi remake of Sholay. But this village is already facing water shortage due to drought. Navinbhau, a committed social worker and the village Sarpanch, who is crazy after women, helps the unit to carry on with their shooting.
The film is filled with many fun-filled sequences, right from the selection of artistes for this particular film. The interesting part begins only when Navinbhau suggests the director to highlight the water scarcity problem faced by the villagers in his film. The film takes an interesting turn here. The climax of this film leaves the viewer with a lot to reflect on.
The film begins with not-so-interesting happenings. But once the team reaches the place Dhoolpati, crisp and witty dialogues are combined to show the attitude of the producer and the important characters in the film. While playing the roles of K.Vasu and Pankaj Satghare, both Ajinkya Deo and Vijay Patkar have made good use of their experience in this field. Yatin Karyekar has portrayed the naughty producer very well. In the role of his wife, Kishori Shahane has done well. Good performances also come from Ganesh Yadav as Navinbhai, Saurabh Gokhale as assistant director, Sanskruti Balgude, the local girl who is doing her research for the betterment of the village & Digambar Naik as the selfish Sarpanch of the village. But the standout performer comes in the role of Basanti; the bold and beautiful Gurleen Chopra.
However, it is felt that the film could have been more interesting had the writers had paid more attention to the screenplay. The story of this film is written by Milind Kavade, along with Deepak Thube, Prakash Bhagwat and Sagar Wankhede. The film has scope for music and one song picturised on Ganesh Acharya and Gurleen Chopra has already become a hit before films release.
All in all, Shinma is a film that offers average entertainment.
